The world has changed dramatically over the last few months. We have seen a virus spread across the face of the globe changing every aspect of our daily lives. With social distancing strictly in place we had to act quickly to ensure our clients could still get see our physiotherapists during lock down. We quickly trained our team on how to use Zoom, making sure it was 100% secure using passwords and encryption to start Tele rehab. While it took a bit of getting used to for both the physiotherapists and the clients, it has been a great success as you can see by some of the comments we have received:
I normally see Farshideh once a month to help keep on top of the various ‘things’ that MS likes to throw in my path. When lockdown started I was concerned about the impact that missing the sessions would have on my health. So when Farshideh suggested using zoom I was totally up for giving it a try. Our first online session was almost 5 weeks since my last Birkdale visit and I could tell that the more sedentary and isolated experience of lockdown had already resulted in my eyes not moving well, my muscles being tight and things just generally not being as good as they could be. I was a little apprehensive about whether zoom would be effective but I really shouldn’t have been. In one hour on zoom Farshideh managed to reverse the ill effects that had built up over the previous weeks, using basic movements and tasks that she could demonstrate and I could easily copy. It was super simple to get the technology set up and I would say that the zoom session was just as effective as my normal in person sessions. I’ll definitely be carrying on with them whilst getting to Birkdale isn’t possible and I’d highly recommend anyone else to give them a try too. Zoom-Neurophysio is an awesome and invaluable tool for us to be able to use to help stay as well as possible during these very surreal times we’re currently living through.
I was very sceptical that Zoom physio would work. Would I be competent enough to use it? Would my lack of specialist equipment mean we couldn’t have a useful session? Would Farshideh be able to see me properly? Would it be worth it?Well, following our session, I realise it was easy! And hugely beneficial. You’ve been able to see what I am doing and the way I’m moving and help to make adjustments so that I’m feeling much more confident with my walking. Giving me the exercises to do until we have another session next week makes such a difference too. I feel like I can make some progress and not go “backwards” during a time when we can’t meet face to face. Using Zoom was a doddle. I didn’t need to do anything except click on the link in the email you sent and magically we were in the same room. Brilliant. So thank you very much and see you next week!
I have a 5 year old daughter with spastic diplegia and have been doing therapy with Farsideh for 3 years now flying twice a year to London. With Covid we have been able to access Farsideh and her amazing knowledge via Zoom On a weekly basis for the last 2 month and the progress my daughter has made is just remarkable – zoom has been great for us and being able to ensure continuity of treatment is essential

In addition our partnership with MindMazeTM has been a fantastic help to our clients during this time. MindMazeTM started a flexible rental program to allow clients to access the MindMotionTM GO on a monthly basis during this pandemic. Clients are now using the MindMotionTM GO at home with the additional assistance from Birkdale in the programming and monitoring of their virtual sessions through the MindMotionTM dashboard. In addition to Zoom physiotherapy sessions, the MindMotionTM GO provides clients the ability to independently exercise and increase their daily therapy input.
