Following our successful training course on balance and eye movements in 2016, we have joined forces with behavioural optometrist Bhavin Shah (Central Vision Opticians) and leading eye-tracking technology company Tobii Dynavox, for our upcoming course ‘The Eyes Have It: Exploring the power of your eyes’.
The Eyes Have It:
Exploring the power of your eyes
15th September 2018
Our aim, in holding this one day practical training, is to help parents, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists to improve their understanding of the importance of vision in many daily tasks. From communication and reading, to walking and eye-directed body movements, many activities rely heavily on vision. But there are other daily tasks that we may not be aware of the role that vision plays; visual processing capabilities also affect a person’s concentration and behaviour, and so their ability to learn.
During this day of talks, we will discuss the brain networks involved in visual processing, and the applications of eye-tracking technologies like Tobii Eye Gaze and Okimo in diagnosis, augmentative communication and rehabilitation. There will also be a practical session in the afternoon, with Jeniffer De Almeida (Tobii Dynavox representative) to show how these technologies can be used with adults and children.
